Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - aswell in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
