Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
